 Het 18e WK voetbal is vrijdag 9 juni 2006 rond de klok van 5 officieel geopend. Op de openingsdag mocht Duitsland als eerste aftrappen tegen Costa Rica. In een zeer doelpuntrijk duel won Duitsland uiteindelijk met 4 - 2. Polen, op papier sterker dan Ecuador verloor met 1 - 0 van deze tegenstander. |
